About the Role

Frontier Medicines is looking for an experienced controller to work in our headquarters in South San Francisco, California. The controller will be instrumental in building out the accounting structure, developing and implementing goals, policies, procedures and best practices related to accounting and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements, GL, P&L balance sheets, account reconciliation, journal entries, etc
  • Manage daily General Ledger/AR/AP functions and month-end and year-end close processes
  • Support Board and Investor reporting as required
  • Identify staffing needs to support the build-out of the accounting infrastructure
  • Responsible for system implementations
  • Responsible for the establishment, operation, and updating of internal controls, including narrative standard operating procedure documentation and communication thereof with employees
  • Hire, train and develop staff as necessary
  • Manage external audits
  • Act as the liaison between General Accounting and other departments as required. Work closely with stakeholders to implement a budget process – be a business partner to the R&D organization
  • Prepare FP&A and monthly actual-to-budget analysis
  • Assist with the implementation of SOX
  • Manage the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings
  • Assist with the preparation of the Board presentations
  • Manage the preparation, maintenance and analysis of budgets and forecasts
  • Drive internal process improvements and continually identify opportunities for automation
  • Provide accounting support to the CFO for special projects and ad-hoc reporting and analysis as necessary
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MSA) and/or CPA
  • 10 years of proven accounting and management experience in a high growth environment
  • Previous experience leading a company through an IPO in a key finance role
  • Biotech / therapeutics experience
  • Experience building and leading the accounting and SEC reporting team to transition from a private to post-IPO Biotech
