Allison Roberts, Ph.D.

Sr. Scientist, Chemical Biology

As a scientist in the Chemical Biology department at Frontier, I am responsible for developing various mass spectrometry and chemical biology techniques to drive our drug discovery pipeline and expand our chemoproteomics platform.

From a young age I knew I enjoyed science and learning how things worked. I thought about pursuing a career in medicine, but it wasn’t until I had my first research experience that I realized I wanted to make my impact on the healthcare field through research and drug development. My first exposure to laboratory research was synthesizing and characterizing vitamin B12 bioconjugates/imaging agents at Syracuse University. I subsequently studied the enzymology of lysine acetyltransferases and spent time developing and characterizing alkyne-probes using chemoproteomics in the lab of Dr. Jordan Meier. However, it was my graduate research in Dr. Dan Nomura’s lab that exposed me to how chemical biology and chemoproteomics could really impact drug discovery. Frontier Medicines has been the perfect place for me to apply my love of science with my critical thinking skills to create novel, life-saving therapeutics. It is truly where my academic and personal passions collide!

In my personal time, I enjoy hiking and riding my bike. Pre-COVID, I had been training as a boxer for over 3 years (and look forward to getting back to it!).
